A new district for Hamburg

Inspired by the hanseatic merchant spirit

The philosophy behind the development of the Sophienterrassen is based on an entrepreneurial attitude that has unfortunately become rare in today's world. It corresponds to the set of values of the ‘honourable merchant’, which has a particularly long tradition in the Hanseatic City of Hamburg. Above all, it is the perceived duty to take responsibility for the community.

In this sense, the Sophienterrassen were not only planned and purchased for the buyers. A building or a group of buildings is always related to the city and its citizens. Not only do residents live in it, but it is also experienced from the outside in an urban context and becomes part of history. This understanding of building demands respect for the past and the future, as well as a great sense of responsibility when constructing new buildings, revitalising and upgrading existing ones.

All well and good

Grand gesture and small detail

‘Schön und gut’ (which translates as “all well and good” but also means “beautiful and good” in German) is the motto of the FRANKONIA Eurobau for the Sophienterrassen project, from planning to management. What sounds so simple only becomes comprehensible in its complexity in the three dimensions of these three words.

In this context, ‘beautiful’ refers to aesthetics in all its facets, from the façade, furnishings and interior design to the landscaping of the gardens. ‘Wherever the eye looks, it should bring joy.’ This is how Uwe Schmitz, CEO of FRANKONIA Eurobau, summarised the aesthetic aspiration for the Sophienterrassen.

The ‘Gut’ (good) refers to all the other forms of quality: the constructive quality, the functional quality, the material quality, the quality of the workmanship and, last but not least, the quality of the service. ‘Schön und gut’ (good and beautiful) applies to the whole, however small the detail.

Beyond Money and Markets

Values that transcend generations

In European culture, hardly anything is as closely associated with people as the building in which they spend some of the most precious moments of their lives. Real estate deserves more than a mere price comparison or investment appraisal. The Sophienterrassen were also created with the passionate endeavour to create values that will endure in 50 or 100 years. Ultimately, this form of sustainability pays back into the market value that a property gains from the increasing demand for fewer and fewer valuable offers.

Luxury redefined

The art of filling time with life

The richer a person becomes in terms of age and wealth, the better they understand the actual definition of the term luxury. Because luxury primarily means the freedom to fill your time with life and to savour every moment of it. At the same time, it means avoiding anything that detracts from these goals. The Sophienterrassen make this freedom possible in a variety of ways. Here, luxury becomes the collection of precious moments that make up life, filling it with joy, giving it meaning in an individual way and adding value.
