SOPHIE
Harvestehuder Stieg 24A
Hamburg - Harvestehude

Last but not least – SOPHIE

The final piece in the urban development of the Sophienterrassen district is also the link to its name. SOPHIE – from the Greek σοφία (‘wisdom’) – presents herself here as timeless and stylistically free from fashion, of course.

The noble restraint is not an affectation, but an elegance that arises from classic lines and Hanseatic awareness. This is the last work by architect Mirjana Markovic, and it pays homage to this location.

With a keen eye for the small details and the courage for a clear design language. Or, as described in Goethe's Faust, as ‘the last word of wisdom’.

FROM CONCEPT TO COMPLETION

A great piece of Hamburg

A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step, and the transformation of a former military site into an elegant residential area also had to be tackled stage by stage. An important milestone was the purchase of the property by Frankonia Eurobau AG in 2006. But there were also significant events, both large and small, before and after that. They range from noise-related expert opinions to the engagement of Karl Lagerfeld. In their chronological order, they provide a chronicle of a neighbourhood.

SOPHIE at the Sophie Terraces

The urban keystone

The SOPHIE at Harvestehuder Stieg 24A is the crowning glory of the Sophienterrassen development. With 25 apartments of various sizes, a residence with a large roof terrace and two penthouses, this building is not only the last of its kind in the district. It is also the last work by the exceptional Hamburg architect Mirjana Markovic and could be described as a future landmark today.
