Sophienterrassen, Hamburg-Harvestehude
A dream of a place to live
Sophienterrassen combines modern elegance with urban luxury in a spacious park area on the Outer Alster. The privilege of living in this location was shared by wealthy Hamburg merchant families. Their magnificent villas and their lifestyle provided the starting point, aspiration and orientation for the concept of the urban quarter.
Today, the listed Sophienpalais, several office buildings, townhouses, city and Alster villas, and Sophie at Harvestehuder Stieg 24A, as the urban keystone of the entire ensemble, are part of the Sophienterrassen. They embody a unique interplay of historical origin, irretrievable location and both contemporary and timeless design.
The town penthouse in the Sophienpalais
An innovative form of living for the most discerning
The luxurious town penthouse at Sophienpalais is currently the last of its kind to be sold. Its name alone hints at its special features: this new form of living combines the life in a townhouse on two floors with the advantages of a penthouse in a space of 278 square metres. The room sequence is no less unusual. On the lower floor, there are two bedrooms, each with a bathroom en suite, a dressing room and access to the balcony, where the treetops are your neighbours.
The upper floor houses an Eggersmann designer kitchen and a spacious dining and living area. The highlight is undoubtedly the large, south-facing roof terrace. It offers a fantastic view over the quarter and the city centre of Hamburg. Fully furnished and decorated with works by renowned artists, the town penthouse is ready for immediate occupancy.
Sophie
The urban keystone
The SOPHIE building at Harvestehuder Stieg 24A marks the completion of the Sophienterrassen development. SOPHIE is elegant and timeless in style, with classic lines. However, its noble restraint is not an affectation, but arises from its Hanseatic consciousness. Here, architect Mirjana Markovic has created her last work, which pays homage to this location. With two penthouses, a private residence and several apartments, SOPHIE offers a final opportunity to acquire residential property in the Sophienterrassen.
The Alster Villas
Built near the water
The Alster villas of the Sophienterrassen in Hamburg are the closest buildings to the Outer Alster. This privileged and idyllic location not only gives residents breathtaking views of the Alster, but also allows them to enjoy relaxing moments on the nearby shore. The Sophienterrassen park has been designed in such a way that it appears to merge seamlessly with the public areas, with its old trees and newly planted solitary trees.
The Sophienpalais
New life in the stately home
Once a military headquarters, the Sophienpalais, a building that is partially listed, has been given a new function and connotation. The aesthetics of power have been reinterpreted here as the aesthetics of splendour. This conceptual idea runs through the entire house in the design: from the palatial portal to the friendly entrance, the elegant, club-like lounge and the various living areas, to the cheerful garden side of the Sophienpalais. Together with many other factors, these rooms create an atmosphere that is as elegant as it is light and relaxed.
The Park Villas
Embraced by nature
The Parkvillen at Sophienterrassen convey the typical Harvestehude attitude towards life in a modern, pure form. Here, in the middle of the park, which slopes gently down to the Outer Alster, you can experience classically high rooms that truly do justice to the term ‘villa’. The furnishings, however, leave nothing to be desired in terms of contemporary comfort. ‘Sublime’ or ‘sophisticated’ is probably the best way to describe this blend of an elite location and elegant style.
Roll film!
The Sophienterrassen as a film presentation
A moving and moving vision
In reality, even more impressive...
Even before the Sophienterrassen became a reality, the vision took shape in a virtual world. With the help of three-dimensional animation and visualisations, the planning was refined and improved before the first stone was laid. Above all, however, it gave those interested a taste of the extraordinary way of life at the Sophien-terrassen. That reality is even more beautiful and impressive than a film can be is something that is best experienced for yourself when you visit.
The outdoor facilities
An example of modern park design
The outdoor facilities are particularly important for the unique way of life at Sophienterrassen. That is why valuable old park trees, some of which date back to the Wilhelminian period, have been carefully supplemented by newly planted solitary trees. As a contrast to this, modern elements such as paths and squares, benches and fountains, flowerbeds and hedges have been added to the area. This combination of past and future makes walks through the Sophienterrassen grounds a varied experience in every season.
Hanseatic way of life
Style icons among themselves
Typically Hanseatic values, such as diversity and cosmopolitanism, set the tone at Sophienterrassen. The different buildings, like pearls on a chain, come together to create a harmonious whole through the diversity of architectural styles. Or through the openness of the area, which, thanks to a discreet security concept, does not fence itself off, but invites residents and their guests to take a stroll. Last but not least, the Hamburg fashion designer and all-rounder Karl Lagerfeld has designed individual communal areas and residential units in the Sophienterrassen, creating another monument to himself with his designs.
